March 29 is Welcome
Home to Vietnam Veterans Day in a number of states across the nation.
It is also the anniversary
of the Massacre of the Duc Duc Refugee Village in Vietnam.
Why was this massacre
of innocent Vietnamese civilians largely covered up by the American Press?
Two thousands homes
were burned to ashes, hundreds and hundreds of men, women and children were killed, wounded and reported missing.
The Vietnamese terrorists
used this massacre to punish a village who supported Americans.
(This massacre happened around the same time that
John Kerry told the World that Americans were nothing but village-burners and baby-killers.)

National Vietnam Veterans Day March 29.
Tennessee is the first state in the
union to proclaim March 29th, Vietnam Veterans Day.
Minnesota will be the second state
to do so.
I just received an e-mail from Diane Finnemann from the state of Minnesota.
She just informed me that Governor Pawlenty has agreed to sign into effect a proclamation making March 29th. Vietnam Veterans
Day in her state, following the lead of the state of Tennessee. The proclamation should be signed sometime in September.
Two down and 48 to go!
If anyone out in your listening area want to do the same, I can lead
them step by step in the process. The more states we get to do this, Washington will have to pay attention to what we
are doing and bring us that precious calendar with March 29th on it reserved for Vietnam Veterans Day.
I will send you more as things progress.
Sincerely,
Dann Dunham

Welcome Home
For almost 35 years now, Vietnam Veterans
have had an underlying need to hear four little words, Thank You and Welcome Home. On
March 29&30, 2008, this need will be answered in Crossville, Tennessee.
On May 18, 2007, Crossville City Mayor J.H. Graham
III and County Mayor Brock Hill presented proclamations to Dann Dunham and Ron Dyer of Cumberland
County Vietnam Veterans, making March 29th, Vietnam Veterans Day.
This action by both mayors started this group on the
course to a history making event. On, May 7, 2007, the Governor of the Great State of Tennessee,
Phil Bredesen, signed into effect a state proclamation making March 29th, Vietnam Veterans
Day. This made Tennessee, the first state to do this. On June 4th,
both Dunham and Dyer traveled to Nashville to receive the proclamation from the Governor.
On, March 29, 2008, all three of these proclamations will
be presented to the many Vietnam Veterans that will be attending a two day event at the Community Complex in Crossville. This event has been titled, Welcome Home.
An Avenue of Flags will welcome everyone to the city
that made this all happen. If you wish to sponsor a flag, contact Dann at (931) 788-2919. All
sponsors will receive this flag when they are taken down.
If you would like to help make this an event that
these Veterans will remember, please contact Cumberland County Vietnam Veterans at (931)788-2919. Be sure to leave your name and phone number and you will be contacted about organizational meetings that
will be held.
If you are
a Vietnam Veteran, a relative of a Vietnam Veteran, or someone who appreciates what our Veterans sacrificed for us this event
is for you. If you want to express your patriotism and gratitude to these men and women who served their country proudly,
please attend.
Meeting with Senator Jack Corker

Good Day Everyone,
On July 6 2007, Ron Dyer and myself were interviewed on PBS-
Profiles with Don Alexander. I was told it went well. It should start appearing in about a month. I have
decided to pull every string possible to make Welcome Home a success. On August 4th, we are holding a fund raising ride
to support Welcome Home so if you ride, please contact me and I'll send along the info.. If anyone out there has direct
contact with any entertainers, we are looking to contact them. That's it for now, just spread the word.

Sincerely,

"It is time for all of us in the spirit of pride and gratitude
to recall the heroic accomplishment of Vietnam veterans," urged Crossville Mayor J. H. Graham III.
At the Crossville
City Council meeting earlier this month, Graham read a proclamation naming March 29, 2008, as Vietnam Veterans Day in Crossville.
March 29 will be recognized by the city every year from now on. The proclamation states that 35 years ago on March 29, 1973,
the last 2500 troops were withdrawn from South Vietnam ending military involvement in what remains the longest war in U.S.
history. The proclamation continues, "Due to the unpopularity of this eleven year war, the men and women who survived and
the 58,195 brave souls who fought and died were never given the respect and gratitude they deserved for serving their country."
Graham explained that he had met a Vietnam vet who told him that more needed to be done for the veterans of South
East Asia. Graham said the vet felt like they never got a welcome home from the war. Plans for March 29, 2008 activities include
the placing of 107 flags along North Main Street between I-40 and the Community Complex.

Graham asked those gathered at the council meeting to join
him in recognizing Vietnam vets and the applause started leading to a standing ovation of all those present.
