The above picture of this Vietnamese peasant-farming village school was
taken in October 1970. The school was comprised of three cement buildings and a bamboo hut belonging to the village's
teacher.
This picture is looking north towards the Marine Corp's Combat Base "Hill
65."
"Charlie Ridge" is the mountain range.

Another picture taken near the village school, Jose, standing with Doc (U.S. Navy Corpsman), taking
his own picture.
This picture was taken closer to the start of the monsoon season. A
sure sign of this is the muddy road.

Above is former CAP Marine and webmaster Jack Cunningham fooling for the camera. Dressed in his rain gear, M-60
machinegun ammo around his neck, two hand grenades on his chess and holding his M-16 rifle and a 45, Jack looks like he is
ready for everything.
However, even with all that gear, Jack was not ready for the typhoon and it's accompaning flood of November 1, 1970.
For that matter, no human, American or Vietnamese was ready for what nature was about to throw at the Da Nang, Vietnam
area.
