I will place some facts surroundng the massacre of the Duc Duc Refugee
Village on this webpage.
Unless a formal investigation was made, calling eye-witnesses and
all; the final truth why over three hundred men, women and children were killed or wounded, and an estimated
2,000 homes were intentionally burned down and will never be known.
However, the evidence is very interesting.

Less than a month after the massacre of the Duc Duc Refugee Village, Senator
John Kerry became a spokesperson and negotiator for the communist government in Vietnam. At the time, John Kerry was an officer in the United States Navy.
Sen. Kerry met with the Viet Cong government
to negotiate a peace settlement without the authorization of our government:
"I have been to Paris. I have talked with
both delegations at the peace talks, that is to say the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Provisional Revolutionary Government
and of all eight of Madam Binh's points it has been stated time and time again, and was stated by Senator Vance Hartke when
he returned from Paris, and it has been stated by many other officials of this Government, if the United States were to set
a date for withdrawal the prisoners of war would be returned." (Vietnam Veterans Against the War Statement by John Kerry to
the Senate Committee of Foreign Relations, April 23, 1971.)

A THREE DAY FORCE-MARCH FROM NORTH VIETNAM
WITHOUT REST JUST TO MASSACRE PEASANTS...
WHAT MADE KILLING PEASANTS ON A TIME
SCHEDULE SO IMPORTANT...
The Vietnamese communists must have felt there would be a reaction in America. Even during the
Vietnam War, a massacre of hundreds and hundreds of peasant men, women and children would trigger a negative response.
The Vietnamese communists were taking a big chance that such a massacre could turn the American People against
them.

What was going on in America to make
the massacre so timely...
What stories were being covered by the American News Media: in print and on radio and
television news?
THE MASSACRE WAS MARCH
30, MARCH 31, APRIL 1, 1971
Ever since the My Lai Massacre of March 16, 1968, the American News Media was carrying almost daily
stories of American atrocities in Vietnam. If the American News Media did not hear of a new attrocity, they
would always bring up the My Lai Massacre.
However, a number of months before the Duc Duc Refugee Village Massacre, the News Media hooked their
wagon to a raising star, who proclaimed repeatedly before cameras and microphones that he participated in atrocities, while
serving in Vietnam. Being still active, and an officer in the United States Navy, this self-admitted
war-criminal condemned his fellow Vienam veterans for being baby-killers and village-burners. He was so convincing
with his first-hand accounts of American War-Crimes that he appeared before members of the United States Senate and swore
to these same atrocities.
By the time, the few stories of the Duc Duc Refugee Village Massacre came out, they were quickly forgotten.
April 1971 is when this Naval Officer swore to the U.S. Senate that he personally participated in War Crimes in Vienam.
The rest is history.
Not one of John Kerry's claims to have witnessed war crimes first hand were true. Although this former
Naval Officer was found to have lied to he U.S. Senate and to the American People and the World, it was his lies
that Vietnam veterans were remembered for the next thirty-plus years after the war.
The Massacre of the Duc Duc Refugee Village was mostly forgotten, but for a few Americans who served
in the area. And the family and friends of those innocent lives killed and the memories of the survivors...
| April 18, 1971 |
John Kerry first appeared on NBC's Meet the Press with Al Hubbard and made the following statement.:
MR. KERRY (Vietnam Veterans Against the War): There are
all kinds of atrocities and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other
soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free-fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire.
I used 50-caliber machine guns which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took
part in search-and-destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare. All of this
is contrary to the Geneva Conventions and all of this ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government
of the United States from the top down. And I believe that the men who designed these, the men who designed the free-fire
zone, the men who ordered us, the men who signed off the air raid strike areas, I think these men, by the letter of the law,
the same letter of the law that tried Lieutenant Calley, are war criminals.
Kerry introduced Hubbard as a former Air Force captain who
had spent two years in Vietnam and was wounded in action.
| April 22, 1971 |
John Kerry, director of the
Vietnam Veterans against the War, testified before special session the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for two hours about alleging widespread atrocities by U.S. troops, and
the official policies in Vietnam which were illegal, according to international law. He asks the Congressional panel "How
do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"
"They told the stories at times they had personally
raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off
limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and
dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage
of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country." (1 - 2)

"I have been to Paris. I have talked with both delegations
at the peace talks, that is to say the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Provisional Revolutionary Government and of
all eight of Madam Binh's points it has been stated time and time again, and was stated by Senator Vance Hartke when he returned
from Paris, and it has been stated by many other officials of this Government, if the United States were to set a date for
withdrawal the prisoners of war would be returned." (3)

Senator Stuart SYMINGTON (D- Mo.): Mr. Kerry, from your
experience in Vietnam do you think it is possible for the President or Congress to get accurate and undistorted information
through official military channels."
KERRY: I had direct experience with that. Senator,
I had direct experience with that and I can recall often sending in the spot reports which we made after each mission; and
including the GDA, gunfire damage assessments, in which we would say, maybe 15 sampans sunk or whatever it was. And I often
read about my own missions in the Stars and Stripes and the very mission we had been on had been doubled in figures and tripled
in figures. . . . I also think men in the military, sir, as do men in many other things, have a tendency to report what
they want to report and see what they want to see. (4)
A large group of veterans march to the steps of the Supreme
Court to ask the Court why it has not ruled on the constitutionality of the war. They sing God Bless America. One hundred
and ten are arrested for disturbing the peace and are led off the steps with their hands clasped behind their heads. Lobbying
on Capitol Hill continues all day. A District Court judge angrily dissolves his injunction order, rebuking Justice Department
lawyers for requesting the court order and then not enforcing it.
Ramsey Clark, former U.S. Attorney General and lawyer
for the vets, spoke on the Supreme Court's ban against the veteran's campsite at the foot of Capitol Hill. John Kerry can
be seen pictured on the podium.
Veterans stage a candlelight march around the White House.
A huge American flag is carried upside down as a signal of distress. The march ends back at the camp when the flag carriers

Veterans threw their medals and ribbons over a makeshift fence on the steps of the Capitol. Kerry claimed to throw his ribbons over the
fense, then claimed they were someone else's ribbons or medals.
Congressman Jonathan Bingham held hearings with former intelligence
and public information officers over distortion of news and information concerning the war. Senators George McGovern and Philip
Hart held hearings on atrocities committed by U.S. soldiers in Vietnam.
The NBC Nightly News reveals that Al Hubbard had
not been an Air Force Captain, as he claimed, but a staff sergeant E-5. A later investigation of Hubbard's military records
shows that he was never assigned to Vietnam.
Kerry is interviewed in a New York Times article
titled “An Angry War Veteran,” in which he admits to the reporter that he enlisted in the Swift Boats to avoid
the war in Vietnam, since the boats were only used for patrol duty:
“That first trip to Vietnam piqued his curiosity,
'I wanted to go back and see for myself what was going on, but I didn’t really want to get involved in the war.'
So late in 1968 he volunteered for an assignment on "swift boats" - the short, fast aluminum craft that were then used for
patrol duty off the coast of Vietnam.
"Two weeks before he arrived in Vietnam as a swift boat
commander, he said, 'they changed the policy on the use of the boats - decided to send them up the river to prove to
the Vietcong that they didn’t own the waters.'
The river missions involved shooting at sampans and
at huts along the banks and suddenly, Mr. Kerry recalls, we said, ‘hey, wait a minute - we don’t know who these
people are.’ So we started to beach our boats to go to ashore and find out what we had been shooting at.”

Morley Safer. Asked whether he wants to be President of the United States, Kerry replies in the negative, and calls it a "crazy
question." | |

Subject: Duc Duc settlement
Jack,
I found the following report from the 7th Marines Command Chronology dated March 4, 1968.
Although the grid coordinates are incorrect the village names are the same as those where you served with CAP 2-9-2
(aka NOV 3). It seems like the massacre in 1971 was not
the first time the villagers had been brutalized.
Sandy
(d) 040500H: Company I searched the area of (AT869571) and found 40 civilians KIA, 77 WIA, and 14 WIA (at this point there are several letters I can't read ...Sandy)
The villages of DUC DUC, PHU DA, and AN HOA had been mortared, and the enemy
had moved through the area burning huts and throwing grenades at the civilians in their bomb shelters. The enemy told civilians that
the reason for the raid was to force the people to return across the river to the Arizona area and grow rice.
